The colour of starlings

01/02/2016

Walking along the quay side at Mudeford is a lovely thing to do on a sunny September afternoon.  Looking out into the harbour towards Christchurch and Hengistbury Head the first thing we see is a large raft of what we first thought to be Common Scoter, but on closer inspection we find they are Coots, having never seen this many coots all in one place and defiantly not on the sea we do check a second time just to be sure.  Further on we stand to watch a noisy flock of starlings feeding around the lobster pots,  we have never taken time to appreciate the colour of starlings.
